My boss, Linda Wehrli and I were ecstatic to attend the grand opening of our favorite gallery, Arcadia Contemporary at their new location in the historic, Old Town District in Pasadena!
For readers new to Arcadia Contemporary, here’s a little history as found printed on the gallery wall:
The group exhibit debuted over 200 original works created by more than 60 worldwide artists. Appropriately titled “Five and Under”, every work in this exhibition is priced at $5,000 or less.
The grand opening party was held on Saturday, August 18 from 6 PM – 9 PM in their beautiful new 3,000 square foot space on Colorado Blvd. We were excited to spot artists Jeremy Lipking, John Brosio, Jesse Powell and Adam Vinson.
The show runs from August 18 – September 7. Cant’ make it to the show? No worries. The entire catalog may be viewed online at here.
In my boss’ own words, “These highly trained, dedicated artists are our modern day Rembrandt’s. Thanks to Arcadia Contemporary’s owner, Steve Diamont, the artists and their outstanding works are accessible to everyone. No snobbery. No pretending that abstract paint splatters could ever be considered “real art”. Just a pure love for exquisite technique and images representing our time that moves the soul and sets the bar high for standards in the world of fine art. It’s a privilege to support this dedicated gallery and its artists by sharing about them with our readers.”
As always, we’d like to share close-ups of selected works that caught our eye and thought our readers would enjoy. For Linda’s art students, she is asking that you please notice the palettes and techniques for discussion in class.

“A Mermaid and her Consort Spreading Love Across the Sea”, Natalie Featherston, Oil on panel

“I Want to Believe”, Natalie Featherston, Oil on panel

“Blue Curtains, Yellow House”, Rob Browning, Oil on canvas

“Secret”, Jeffrey Chong Wang, Oil on canvas

“Green Plums”, Jeffrey Ripple, Oil on panel
The most eclectic subject award goes to Conor Walton for his skill in turning ordinary sliced bread into an exquisite, mouth-watering piece of technique and palette. From the drop shadow to the textured ground, this work knocked our socks off.
Well, we hope this appetizer has whetted your appetite to check out this incredible exhibit in person or at least peruse the ample catalog.
